The anatomical reconstruction of medial restrains in the chronic dislocation of patella

Abstract

The chronic or permanent dislocation of patella is a different entity from a congenital dislocation. Because of secondary pathological changes, both proximal and distal realignment should be carefuffy applied in reconstruction procedure. The recent clinical and Iaboratory studies have supported a functional reconstruction of medial retinaculum rather than a simple Iongitudinal plication. The purpose of this paper is to introduce a new surgical technique which we developed to reconstruct the structures of medial retinaculum more anatomically and more functionally in a case of bilateral chronic dislocation of the patella.
