Abstract

Although the etiology of synovial chondromatosis has not been completely clarified, it is assumed that the entity occurs as a result of metaplastic transformation of subsynovial and synovial tissue to the cartilage. The involvement of the ankle among the other joints is very rare, but the differential diagnosis of the disease chalIenges the orthopaedic surgeons, especially in the cases of Yong sportmen. In this article, the diagnosis and arthroscopic management of a case of synovial chondromatosis of ankle is presented and the diagnostic vaIue of MRI in early stage of the disease is emphasized.

Özet

Sinovyal kondromatozisin etiyolojisi tamamen açıklanamamakla birlikte sinovyal ve subsinovyal dokuların kıkırdak oluşumuna kadar varan metaplastik dönüşümü sonucu ortaya çıktığı düşünülmektedir. Bütün eklemIer gözönüne alındığında ayakbileği tutuluşu oldukça nadirdir. Fakat özellikle genç sporcularda hastalığın ayırıcı tanısı ortopedistler için güçlük göstermektedir. Bu yazıda bir ayak bileği sinovyal kondromatozis olgusunun tanısı ve artroskopik tedavisi anlatılırken hastalığın erken evrelerinde MRI ın tanısal değeri vurgulanmaya çalışılmaktadır.
