Abstract

In this study, we researched the efficiency and the tolerance of the low molecular weight heparin for the prevention of the deep venous thrombosis and the pulmonary embolism in 185 patients who were performed hip surgeries in the Orthopaedics and Traumatology Department of Gulhane Military Academy, between January 1, 1992 and June 1, 1994. Included were 105 males and 80 females with the mean age of 50.6 years. The efficiency of the low molecular weight heparin (LMWH) was evaluated with the volume of peroperative and postoperative blood loss. The deep venous thrombosis (DVT) was detected in 12 out of 90 patients who were performed total hip prothesis (6.71%), and 9 out of 95 patients who had partial hip prothesis (5.02%). During the whole period of our study, no pulmonary embolism was observed.

Hastaların ortalama yaşı 50.6, 105 i erkek, 80 i kadın idi.
