Abstract
Unilateral, biplanar external fixators were used in the management of closed tibial fractures of 38 patients during March 1989-May 1992 in the Orthopaedics and Traumatology Clinic of Taksim State Hospital. The patients were questioned whether they were satisfied with the results of the treatment. Our patients were evaluated for the healing time of the fractures, the range of joint motions, the rate of union, the rate of complications and they were compared with the results of alternative open or closed methods used in our clinic.All of our patients were satisfied with the treatment and union was succeeded in alI of the cases without a serious complication. The patients returned to their daily and sociallives in a short period of time.

Sağlık Bakanlığı Taksim Hastanesi Ortopedi ve Travmatoloji Kliniğinde Mart 1989 Mayıs 1992 tarihleri arasında 38 hastaya kapalı kruris kırığı nedeniyle unilateral iki planlt eksternal fiksatör uygulandı. Hastaların subjektif olarak memnuniyet derecesi soruldu. Kırığın kaynama süresi, eklem hareketlerinin açıklığı enfeksiyon, nonunion gibi komplikasyonların görülme sıklığı bakımından değerlendirilerek, kliniğimizde uyguladığımız diğer kapalı ve açık cerrahi yöntemlerle karşılaştırıldı. Tüm olgularımız subjektif olarak tedavi sonucundan memnun olup, ciddi bir komplikasyonla karşılaşmadan bütün olgularda kırık kaynaması sağlandı. Hastalar kısa bir sürede eski çalışma ortamına ve sosyal yaşantılarına döndüler.
